Professional Experience

Julie Murchinson is a Managing Director of Manatt Health Solutions, a policy and strategic advisory division of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. Ms. Murchinson has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry assisting healthcare organizations with information technology (IT) strategy, service operations, business plan development and change management for health information technology adoption.

Ms. Murchinson’s unique approach addresses cross-industry interests in the potential for health information technology and consumer-centric strategies to prepare healthcare delivery for the reality of personalized health care.  Ms. Murchinson’s expertise extends to many areas of the healthcare industry, including foundations, community health centers and networks, consumer-focused Internet companies, pharmaceutical companies and related membership associations.  Her work has pioneered industry-leading health IT readiness methodologies, funding and special-interest collaborations, and perspectives on privacy, security, and consumer rights, all resulting in organization-specific and collaborative strategies that are moving health care delivery and policy toward an interoperable, informative and consumer-centric direction.

Prior to joining Manatt Health Solutions, Ms. Murchinson cofounded and led Object Health, a management consulting group that merged with Manatt Health Solutions. Object Health assisted healthcare organizations and communities with leveraging health information to improve operational efficiencies and health quality outcomes by addressing the intersection of strategic, operational and technical issues of managing healthcare information.  While at Object Health, Ms. Murchinson worked with several foundations to design innovative approaches to accelerating adoption of health IT among ambulatory care providers and throughout communities, working with thought leaders in the industry to advance research and publication in these areas, as well as identifying policy implications necessary to support sustainable adoption at local, state and national levels. She also assisted organizations with understanding important issues and opportunities stemming from health IT adoption, such as internal readiness factors, sustainable business model opportunities and the power of clinical data for quality improvement.

Previously Ms. Murchinson was the Vice President of Services at CareScience, a leading provider of care management technology and services to hospitals, health systems and communities, formerly led by David Brailer, the nation’s first National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. During her tenure at CareScience, she focused on advancing information technology to improve quality and patient safety.  Prior to joining CareScience, Ms. Murchinson was a Senior Consultant with Deloitte Consulting, where she focused on health IT adoption and workforce solutions. She launched her career in healthcare consulting with Ernst & Young LLP.
